Make the most of your stay to explore the region's cultural heritage by visiting Briançon, Névache, Montgenèvre, Val-des-Près…
8km from Val-des-Près is Briançon where you can explore the old town, known as the Cité Vauban. The site is a wonderful example of mountain fortification (guided visits are organised by Briançon tourist information centre). Briançon is a Town of Art and History and there are many monuments to visit: the Fort du Château, the collegiate church and its twin towers, Cordeliers church and its frescos, the fountain of François 1st…
As you wander through the little streets of Val-des-Près, you can admire the town's many sundials. There are also numerous chapels and churches in the Clarée valley, Chapelle Sainte-Marie de Fontcouverte being one of the most charming. In Val-des-Près, you can visit Saint-Claude church, which was restored in summer 2012.
Every hamlet in the valley has its own bread oven – see if you can find them all!
You can also visit the silver mine museum in Argentière-la-Bessée, 23km from the campsite. And in the nearby area, you can explore the Ecrins national park and Dormillouse waterfall which is 34km from the campsite.
Other visits include: Mont-Dauphin, place forte Vauban, situated 40km from the campsite (art craftsmen's workshops).
